Value Learning over Recognition

Recently I reflected and have felt that people are perhaps attracted more toward rewards and recognition rather than placing value in the learning they earn or the impact they create.

Be it a competition, a conference, an office presentation, or a general meeting, everybody just wants the award, the praise, and the appreciation. They need to understand that when you are with a group of people, not your reward but your POSITIVE words would create a

long-lasting POSITIVE impact on others.

Sometimes it is easy to forget why we are a part of a community – we are here to learn, grow, and most importantly, to help others to learn and grow.

But in the rat race of this big world, where only your certificates and awards are given importance, we get lost amidst this chaos of running and forget our main motive of serving.

Why do we need to envy someone if he/she gets rewards?

It’s disheartening to win when those around you either don’t value it or offer insincere applause. Remember, it’s not the prize that matters, but the impact that you create endures. Your speech, demeanor, genuine smile, and politeness are what leave a lasting impression on others.

So next time whenever you are going to a meeting or a competition, just ask yourself – Am I going for a reward or to learn?
